Aqua MODIS true color image of Hudson Bay, 13 March 2004.
This true-color Aqua MODIS image from March 13, 2004, shows ice breaking up on central Canada's Hudson Bay. Together, ice and snow paint the scene in shades of white and gray. Thicker lake ice appears bright white, while newer, thinner ice appears gray. This is especially evident along the shorelines of the Belcher Islands (right of center), the northeastern shore of James Bay (lower right of center), and along the shore of the Peninsule d' Ungava (upper right of center).
